This team took a few years off my life last night. The Tigers pulled out an Alamo Bowl 30-23 that seemed like neither team wanted to win. I don't know if I drastically underrated Northwestern, or Mizzou came out as flat as my high school girlfriend? Either way, props to the seniors for going out a winner.
-Chase Daniel looked horrendous. Three picks tied his career high, but the lasting memory for both Daniel and Maclin is their last pass/catch was the game winner in OT. Sleezy ran into Chase's family and girlfriend down at the Alamo Dome, so I will apologize to them for having that run-in. At least now they can say they saw Sasquatch. -Chase Coffman had one hell of a game, and was as clutch as they come. Props to my favorite Tiger, DaNario Alexander for having a huge game as well as Maclin taking the offense into his own hands. His return for six was the key to the entire game for Mizzou, and gave us momentum going into the locker room.
-Our defense was like the girls that participate in 'Take Back the Night'. Both had opponents score on them at will.
-Sean Weatherspoon was the only bright spot on this shitty D last night. Spoon says he's coming back for '09, which is desperately needed.
-The D-Line stepped it up in the 2nd half, and who'd have guessed they would have the most impact in the end?
-Jeremy Maclin definitely deserves the final Shakespeare's Pizza Playa of the Week for his two key TDs. Nice seeing you in the Black and Gold J-Mac. Hopefully I see you in a Chicago Bears uni in April. Come Jerry Angelo, pull the trigger!
-Also, I'll give dap out to Rick from TigerBoard for burning the Alamo Bowl to DVD for me.
-Winning the Alamo Bowl is huge for recruiting, especially in Texas. It'll be interesting to see what effect it has on the '09 and '10 classes.
So...that's it? So anti-climatic, like when I lost my virginity. Countdown to August begins NOW. Sleezy has a ton of pictures from the game that we'll post tomorrow, and finally, Mizzou basketball isn't horrendous. Maybe we actually do have something to look forward to.
Thanks to the Trib for the photo.
