I'm like many of you...a degenerate gambler. Prop bets, spreads, over/unders: I'm in. Hitting the sportsbook, I was looking at the Tigers' final football stat rankings compared around the country. Offense? Great.

[Rank in parenthesis]
Average Score For: 45 (4)
Total Yards: 507.916656 (6)
Rushing Yards: 163.666672 (49)
Passing Yards: 344.25 (4)

Defense? Other than passing yardage, not as horrible as previously thought.

Average Score Against: 24.666666 (57)
Total Yards: 396.5 (92)
Rushing Yards: 119.666664 (25)
Passing Yards: 276.833344 (117)

Obviously, the suckage in the secondary and the 276 yards a game compounds into the total yardage, which takes down the ranking. The stats also prove that the strength of the defense was the DLine and not praying for shitty weather, which was previously thought of to be the MVP.

While we're on the gamblin' theme, the Tigers didn't fare so well against the spread late in the season, with the only cover against Iowa State.

[Spread in parenthesis]
Won 30-23 vs Northwestern L (-14.0)
Lost 62-21 at Oklahoma L (16.0)
Lost 40-37 vs Kansas L (-16.0)
Won 52-20 at Iowa State W (-26.0)
Won 41-24 vs Kansas State L (-26.5)

Are the Tigers a smart bet to take with the spread? Maybe not. They didn't cover against Buffalo, Baylor, Texas, or Okie State. So out of 14 games, Mizzou went 6-8 against the spread. If you're going to bet your baby momma's alimony money, I'm not saying bet against the Tigers...just bet with your brain and not your fandom. I could have told you Okie Light would be a close game if we won, and Oklahoma and Texas could get ugly. kU is always a close game because of the rivalry, and winning by 27 points in conference doesn't happen every day (K-State).

I've got a Franklin burning a hole in my pocket right now. When can I get some '09 prop bets? IT'S MID-JANUARY AFTER ALL! GIVE ME SOME PROP BETS!!! Oh well, I'll just have to buy a ton of squares, the Super Bowl coin-flip, and some Super Bowl prop bets.
